I took a science class in college a while ago. I was surprised to the point of laughing out loud as my text book made fun Christians and Christian beliefs. I had never read a text book that blatantly ridiculed a belief system that its authors did not support. I have never seen a Math book tease Muslims and I have never seen a Geography book be derogatory toward Hindus. However, for some strange reason, my educational Science text book felt it was totally in line as it made fun of Christians.
As I meet people who are sold out into the science realm and don’t believe in God, I see that often they are malicious in their speech about Christians. Someone, somewhere, has sold them on the notion that God is anti-science. I believe that God is the creator of science, and that the views in the Bible flow beautifully with the study of our world’s complexities.
The book of Job was possibly the first book of the Bible written. The most conservative estimate of how long ago it was written is 450BC. In this book, the Lord says to Job, “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Declare to Me, if you have and know understanding. Who determined the measures of the earth, if you know? Or who stretched the measuring line upon it?”
The equator is the measuring line that we use today to find any location on the earth within inches! The earliest known knowledge of the equator is 150AD, but could have been later than that. The Bible points us to the measuring system of the earth long before anyone else could have known about it.
For years, people lived with the belief that the world was flat. However, before the discovery of our round earth, the Bible said it over and over again:Isaiah 40:22
God sits above the circle of the earth. The people below seem like grasshoppers to Him!
Matthew Maury is the father of oceanography. The reason he discovered the pathways of the ocean is all because of what He read in the Bible and believed to be true. Psalm 8:8 - The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas. He believed that if the Bible said there were paths of the sea, then there must be! Scientists still use his work today.

God was so precise in His creation. Numerous times, I see the words measurements, lines, courses, etc. God is our master architect of the universe. He measured the breadth of the earth with His hand. God is the Great Scientist. Nature, animals, planets, weather – He created it all and loves our discoveries of it. Don’t let immature scientists make you feel like an enemy of science. Our Father has more to show us about science than we could ever imagine!
Father God, thank You so much for Your creative genius that was at work when You created the world. Thank You for Your wondrous scientific complexities with which You created the human body. You are the Great Scientist and I thank You for the gifts You have placed in us that allow us to explore all of Your wonderful creation!
